Llaés

Bauma del Teixidor, la Baumassa i Bauma els Fleus

In Llaés, about 3km from the Castle, we find a group of caves, the main ones being the Teixidor, the Fleus and the Baumassa. It is possible that a thousand years ago it was an Iberian-troglodyte town. All these caves are divided internally in several rooms. They are practically always located in strategic locations, faced towards the sun and close to river courses. The Balcón del Teixidor, the most remarkable, spacious and comfortable, was inhabited until the 70’s, showing the peasantry style of that time.

Els Bufadors:

About 7 kilometers away from the Castle, in the direction of Santa Maria de Besora, we find the Coll de Beví, which gives access to the mountain range of the Bufadors. A unique place for its curious landscape and great landscape beauty: it is a peculiar geological formation of vertical walls with cracks through which the air circulates. The most prominent cavity has 52m deep and almost 400m of course.

La Cau:

The sanctuary of the Mare de Deu de la Cau, located at 1327m altitude, is a small church without a bell tower, built between 1682-86, although it is believed that there was an older sanctuary that was affected by earthquakes in 1427-28. There is a saying, which makes us think that the hermitage was important in terms of weddings:

‘Fadrina that goes to la Cau, returns with promise; And, after two years, there are already three. ”

El Panteó:

The Pantheon of the Carlines wars is located 800 meters from the castle, just below, in memory of the 74 carabiners and an officer shot into the hands of the Carlists in 1874. They had been prisoners the year before the Battle of the Toix.
